The college has a very vibrant NCC unit established in the year of 1994 for both boys and girls. It is guided by Lieutenant Gouri Sankar Banerjee, associate NCC officer and selection grade lecturer in Pol. Sc. of this college. Regular parade programme of the college NCC unit are conducted by the parade instructors from 41 Bengal Battalion NCC, Shibpur, Howrah. Apart from the regular parade, Associate NCC officer of the college arranges different camps for the cadets in different parts of the country for exposure to adventure and to earn a valuable concept of an integrated Nation. |

Since 2003 the college has initiated Adult-Literacy Programme with assistance from CUSCON, an NGO of Kolkata.The college has also been instrumental in introducing a women-empowerment programme and awareness campaign for eye-donation after death in collaboration with an NGO named Nayanjyoti Welfare Association,Kolkata. Recently the college has stepped up its efforts to link up Civic Authorities in its social activities. |

From early seventies of the last century the college has a very enthusiastic NSS unit. This unit, from its very inception, is devoted to link up the students of the college with the society with a view to nourishing their ethical values by taking up several programmes. During past years the NSS unit has undertaken Mass-literacy programmes, AIDS awareness programmes, Blood Donation Camp, Eye Donation (after death) camp etc. In the year 1972, the college unit constructed a shelter for passengers in the near- by bus-stop named ‘Penro’ and till date it is regularly maintained by this unit. Tree-Plantation is another programme by this unit which helps to increase eco-awareness of the students and society as well. Every student can be a member of the NSS college unit. This unit is now guided by the NSS programme officer Sri Suvankar Chakraborty, Lecturer in Commerce of the college. This unit is governed by a NSS Committee, NSS Programme Officer and the University of Calcutta. Through participation in NSS camps the students get valuable experience in leadership and collective functioning in Social Service by participating in camp activities. NSS certificates are valuable for seeking Government services. |

The term education implies training, not just in academics but also in extension activities. It certainly aims at the development of overall personality. The college fully recognizes the fact and hence, encourages the students to participate in various extension activities. |

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The college has an ex-students’ body, known as ‘PRAKTANI’, the functioning of which should reach upto a level so that most of the illustrious graduates of the college join the Alumni Association and by way of their participation it could be rejuvenated by fostering close liaison and understanding with present students. |
